An excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and well organised graduate to gain practical experience in a public library and apply professional qualifications to assist Library teams in delivering programs and services to Darwin’s diverse community.

The Opportunity

City of Darwin is seeking a motivated Graduate Librarian to be a part of the evolving Library Services team. You will work in a variety of roles and participate in projects reviewing the Library Systems and processes to deliver contemporary Library Services to the broader community.

Reporting to the Coordinator Business Systems and Collection Management you will be expected to perform and deliver consistently across a range of Key Result Areas. A key component of this role is the Service Delivery provided to our Community, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Ensure Library customers are provided with a positive, proactive and responsive customer service experience
  • Prepare statistics and contribute to reports, discussion papers, training and procedural documentation
  • Deliver inductions and revision sessions for library staff on the use of library systems and equipment including the Library Management System, PC and Room booking software, RFID equipment, eResources and library printers
  • Participate in project teams and lead small projects to, develop, implement and evaluate activities, systems, procedures, programs and events within the libraries that are responsive to the diverse need of the Darwin community

This position is remunerated a base salary of $78,608.57 plus superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as six (6) weeks annual leave and fifteen (15) days personal leave.

To be successful, you have:

  • have graduated in Bachelor of Information Studies/Community Service/STEAM disciplines in the last two (2) years or due to graduate within three (3) months
  • Working with Children clearance (NT Ochre Card)
